When John Allen Williams was born on July 12, 1838, in Pipestem, Summers County, West Virginia, his father, John<\/a>, was 31 and his mother, Ann Dickinson<\/a>, was 24.<\/p>\n

He was married three times.\u00a0 First to Julia Butler who died three years after the marriage.<\/p>\n

Next, John A Williams married Martha Ann Butler<\/a> in Mercer, West Virginia, on December 26, 1865,\u00a0\u00a0when he was 27 years old. Together they\u00a0had one son and seven daughters.\u00a0 Unfortunately three daughters did not survive to adulthood.\u00a0 And Martha “Mattie” died at age 38 years.<\/p>\n

John last married Mahala Keaton but there were no children.<\/p>\n

In the 1850 Census for Mercer Co. WV lists John A William #444 T: Princeton W452.<\/p>\n

John’s middle initial changes with various docs and in 1910 his home was free of a mortgage.<\/p>\n

He died on June 15, 1925, in Pipestem, Summers County, West Virginia, at the age of 86.\u00a0 He is buried in Williams Cemetery off of Butterfly Lane in Summers County,\u00a0 West Virginia.\u00a0 According to his tombstone he fought for Co H 36 Virginia Infantry.<\/p>\n
