She married Adam Radabaugh and they had four children together. She then married Joseph Hall on August 17, 1815, in Harrison, West Virginia. She died in 1830 in West Virginia at the age of 58.\" data-placeholder-empty=\"Add a Biography to Personalize the LifeStory\">\n<p>When Catherine Simon was born about 1775 in Virginia, her father, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marysfolly.com\/?page_id=1165\">Johann George Simon<\/a>, was 23, and her mother, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marysfolly.com\/?page_id=1168\">Mary Reger<\/a>, (maiden name not proven) was 24.\u00a0 Her father&#8217;s will probated 11 Apr 1804 in Hardy County, WV, in his will written in 1802, says Catherine is a Rodabaugh giving a solid source of her marriage.<\/p>\n<p>Also, see &#8220;Rohrbach Genealogy,&#8221; v. III, by Lewis B. Rohrbach, 1982, p. 46, which states: &#8220;Catharine Simon had married, as his second wife Adam Rodabaugh, the close neighbor of John Rorabaugh.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>No actual marriage record has yet been found, about 1798, Catherine Simon married <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marysfolly.com\/?page_id=719\">Adam Radabaugh <\/a>in Harrison County Virginia.\u00a0 They had six children together:\u00a0 George, Jacob, Christain, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marysfolly.com\/?page_id=391\">Elizabeth<\/a>, Barbara Louisa, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marysfolly.com\/?page_id=348\">Benjamin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cHistory of Upshur County\u201d by W.B. Cutright with material collected 1906-1907, page 539, 4th paragraph, gives information about Benton Radabaugh, as son of Adam Radabaugh and wife, Clara Eleanor Wagner.\u00a0 It goes on to explain that Benton is the grandson of George Radabaugh\u00a0 and the \u201cgreat grandson of Adam Radabaugh, Sr., and Catherine Simons, who were citizens of Chillicothie, Ohio, at the time of their death.\u201d\u00a0 This record incorrectly suggests that Catherine died in Ohio with her husband but additional evidence suggests that she returned to Virginia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>It is logical that a young widow would return to more familiar circumstances rather than remain in far more rugged area.\u00a0 Also per the will of George Simon, Catherine had a small inheritance that would be available to her about the time frame that she returned.<\/p>\n<p>The 1810 census has Catharine Rorabaugh in Harrison County Virginia as the head of a houshold. \u00a0Note;\u00a0 Harrison County was formed in 1784.\u00a0 Lewis County will not be formed until 1816 from Harrison County.\u00a0 Finally, in 1851, Upshur County will be formed from Lewis County, Barbour County, and Randolph County.\u00a0 The timing and location fit the proper geography and likely assumption is that she was the wife of Adam Jr, &#8211; Catherine Simon Radabaugh.\u00a0 The 1810 census lacks details of the children\u2019s names but the ages correspond.\u00a0 An additional interesting detail is that the neighbor on the line above is Saml Hall.\u00a0 In 1815 Catherine Radabaugh married Joseph Hall in Harrison County, Virginia. So Catherine did return to Virginia with the children after Adam Jr.\u2019s death about 1806.<\/p>\n<p>On 17 Aug 1815, Catherine Radabaugh married Joseph Hall in Harrision County, Virginia, now Upshur County, West Virginia, Book 3 pg 7.\u00a0 There were no children of that marriage.<\/p>\n<div id=\"narrativeText\" class=\"narrativeText colornormal\" data-narrative-original=\"When Catherine Simon was born in 1772 in Virginia, her father, Johann, was 23, and her mother, Mary, was 24. She married Adam Radabaugh and they had four children together. She then married Joseph Hall on August 17, 1815, in Harrison, West Virginia. She died in 1830 in West Virginia at the age of 58.\" data-placeholder-empty=\"Add a Biography to Personalize the LifeStory\">\n<p>Catherine married Ephraim Silvers in March 1827 in Lewis County, Virginia.\u00a0\u00a0Her name is listed also &#8220;Catherine Silver&#8221; in &#8220;The Radabaugh Family,&#8221; central WV Counties, pg 23, by Doris and Mary Radabaugh, 27 Jul 1996. Catherine Silver, age 75, is listed in the 1850 Upshur cenus with son Jacob Radabaugh&#8217;s\u00a0 (a son)\u00a0 family.<\/p>\n<p>The 1810 Virginia census lists Catherine Rodabaugh and a family of seven. The 1820 Harrison Co. census lists her second husband Joseph Hall and family.<\/p>\n<p>The marriage records for daughter Barbara Radabaugh July 31, 1823, to James Ward and Elizabeth Radabaugh November 15, 1820 to Henry Lance gives Catherine Hall as their mother. These girls are the daughters of Adam Radabaugh and Catherine (Simon) Radabaugh Hall Silvers, married, 2 Mar 1827 in Lewis Co. WV, to Ephraim Silvers; From &#8220;Marriage Bonds and Marriage Records, 1816-1865, Lewis Co., WV,&#8221; p. 69. married 17 Aug 1815 in Upshur Co. WV, to Joseph Hall, in Harrison\/Lewis Co. WV;\u00a0 Upshur County, WV, Bk. 3, p. 7.; Joseph&#8217;s estate settlement indicates he died before 6\/25\/1824. He married first Ann (Hitt) Martin Strange and had at least two sons (Jonathan, b. 1797 and David, b. 1800). After Ann&#8217;s death in 1810 (McWhorter, p. 189), he married in 1815 Catherine (Simons) Radabaugh.<\/p>\n<p>See &#8220;Unpublished Manuscript: Joseph Hall,&#8221; by John Strange Hall (his ggrandson), 1909 at the Hackers Creek Pioneer Descendants Library. He is listed in the 1820 Harrison County census: 1 M &amp; 1 F 45+; 1 M &amp; 2F 16-26. MARRIED ??? 1793 in Virginia?, to Adam RADABAUGH, JR., Born ??? 1755?, Died ??? 1805? in Chillicothe OH; FATHER: Adam RADABAUGH, SR., Born ??? 1725?, Died ??? 1806 at age 81; MOTHER: Mary Barbara FISCHER, Born ??? 1737?; &#8220;Buzzard &amp; Alt Families,&#8221; by M.P. Buzzard, p. 104, 1991 notes that Adam and Catherine died in Chillicothie, OH; also see &#8220;History of Upshur County, WV,&#8221; by Cutright, p. 539. For additional information on his children, see p. A-36 of &#8220;Four Generations of the Immigrant Christian Rodabaugh 1707?-1779) and His Family,&#8221; by Kem Luther, 1992.<\/p>\n<p>Death records were not found in Chillicothe, OH for Adam or Catherine. Kem Luther reports on p. 36: &#8220;He [Adam] married Catherine Simons and died about 1802&#8221; [in Chillicothe, OH). Also see Land Record: Bk. 7, p.168, Coon&#8217;s Run, 1837. CHILDREN: 1. In his will probated 11 Apr 1804 in Hardy County, WV, in his will written in 1802, says Catherine is a Rodabaugh. Her name is listed also &#8220;Catherine Silver&#8221; in &#8220;The Radabaugh Family,&#8221; central WV Counties, pg 23, by Doris and Mary Radabaugh, 27 Jul 1996.
