Ancestor 89 Elizabeth Erwin

Elizabeth Jane Erwine/Ervine/Irwin was born about 1770 in Augusta County, Virginia, and was the daughter of Jared Erwin and Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Jane married William Armstrong on April 1, 1788 at Augusta County, Virginia and the marriage was solemnized by Rev.  Benjamin Erwin.  He was likely related but I have not yet researched the relationship.  The marriage record was originally published in “Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia, 1745-1800.  Extracted from the Original Court Records of Augusta County” by Lyman Chalkley.  The record included remarks:  Bride is the daughter of Jarred Erwin, who consents.  Baltimore:  Genealogical Publishing Co., 1965.  Originally published in 1912.   The source for this marriage information is located on Ancestry.com.  The FHL Film Number is 30415.

William and Elizabeth Jane had three daughters and five sons.  Children in order of birth:  John, Jared, Jane, William, George, Nancy, Elizabeth, and James.

We know that her death was after 15 March 1834 because she is mention in Pendleton Deed book 6 pg 343-344 where her land changes hands with some of her children.
