Jacob Lance was born 11 October 1830, Big Run, Barbour County, Virginia (now West Virginia) to Henry Lance/Lantz and Elizabeth “Betty” Radabaugh. In the 1850 census, Jacob was living with his parents in Barbour County.
On April 21, 1853, Jacob married Sena Post in Upshur County, Virginia (now West Virginia). Jacob and Sena had four children: William H Washington, Josiah, Mary Jane, and Sarah Anne.
Jacob died from a gun shot on 23 December 1862 in Upshur County, Virginia. His burial location is not known to me. I can’t find any information about why he was shot but there is nothing to associate it with the Civil War sentiments.
