“Peggy” Margaret Ann McCoy was born on a farm one mile above Doe Hill near the foot of Jack Mountain on April 22, 1838. She was Scotch-Irish decent.
When Margaret “Peggy” Ann McCoy was born, her father, Henry, was 34, and her mother, Mary Bodkin, was 27.

She married Harvey Armstrong on August 7, 1855, in Highland, Virginia. In the spring of 1858 they moved to West Virginia and settled on a farm one mile above French Creek in Upshur County, West Virginia.

They had nine children in 21 years. She died on December 23, 1921, in Upshur, West Virginia, at the age of 83, and was buried in Beechtown Cemetery, Frenchton, West Virginia.
